This ride is an overall well made ride. The queue is perfect, the ride is an amazing expierence (expecially with that blue strobe light tunnel), and a great rollercoaster by any standards. Ride it first thing in the morning before the crowds get too big!

My 13 year old son and I rode this first thing in the morning and had just a short wait. I wouldn't recommend it for small children. It has about a medium "hurl" factor. We loved it!!!

My First Roller Coaster
Reviewer's Comments
This was my first roller coaster that I was ever on. I'm not a roller coaster fan but I figure it was time to finally try it out several years ago. I loved it!
Everytime I go back to Magic Kingdom I have to ride Space Mountain. Riding a coaster in the dark is a great experience and can be scary for first time riders (like me)or very young kids. Since I hate heights, I have no clue on how high I really am so it helps.
This time was a new experience for me. I told the ride attendant that I didn't want the front seat and what happens.... I get the front seat. My husband didn't volunteer to go in the front so I was the lucky one. This is not what I expected for my first ride of the day and so early in the morning!
Besides my hands sweating and having that "fear" I braved it and yelled through most of the ride. Even though I've been on this ride several times, being in the front was a whole new ball game for me.
When the ride was over and I survived being in the front, it wasn't that bad... except for my fingers being cramped for holding on for dear life. Would I do the front again, heck no!
Overall, the ride is neat and being in the dark is a whole new adventure. The sudden drops will throw you for a loop, the turns are tight/fast and going through the strob light tunnel is really cool.
Best time to go is when the park first opens. Fast Pass is an option if the line is long. I wouldn't recommend young children since this ride may scare them. There is a height restriction as well so your child may/may not be able to ride the roller coaster.

Summary
Great coaster
Reviewer's Comments
The best roller coaster in Disney World.... Well, I'd like to say that, but Aerosmith is actually the new king. However, that doesn't detract anything from this ride. It really is the perfect well-rounded coaster. Good thrills, decent length, fantastic scenery (if you can catch a glimpse while zooming by)and the fact that it's in the dark makes it much, much better. The only thing that hurts it is the occasionally horrendously long wait times, but even FastPass puts a huge dent in that, and it doesn't happen that often. Just a note to the prospective rider, one side is significantly better than the other... Unfortunately I always forget which side it is (though I really think its the left area).. Also, the wait is actually scarier than the actual ride itself (coupled with the long ride up that ramp... truly creepy). That being said, keep the young-uns away, unless they have no problems with a few very sharp turns (Space Mountain doesn't really have drops). Everybody else will enjoy this ride. Fantastic!

The ride is a classic, but it's getting quite old in comparison with other Disney thrill rides. I love the darkness. It is still a must do at WDW.

Space Mountain is #1
Reviewer's Comments
I first rode Space Mountain at Disney World in 1981. I have to say it was a totaly new experience for me. I fell in love with Space Mountain the first time I rode on it. Space mountain has been my favorite attracton at Disney World. Back in 2000 i got to see what the inside of Space Mountain looked like with the lights on. And to this day i still cannot believe how they put a Coaster inside that Building. I will be back in May 2004 to ride Space Mountain , And hopefuly get a picture of the interior of Space Mountain with the lights on. I think Side B is the Best side of Space Mountain because of the sudden Drops including one I call "The Black Hole" because you don't see it until you come up on it then your car take that sudden dip , Allways sit in the back for better Air-Time

Space Mountain Rocks!
Reviewer's Comments
A totally great ride! Maube because its in the dark, it doesn't seem anything like most coasters. I managed to drag my mother on this ride, and she normally hates coasters. She's loved it ever since! You have to fastpast this one though, or else you'll be in line for ages.
