I remember going on this when it was Countdown to Extinction, and it seemed a lot more scary then. They must have toned it down to be more child-friendly. Still a very fun ride!

I enjoy this ride - it's really not very scary, but young kids might get frightened because it is in the dark with loud noises and sudden movements. It is a similar-type ride to the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.
I have also heard the ride was toned down, but I only rode it once before the renaming and I don't remember if it was different.

This is a real fun ride. I suggest taking dramamine before riding though if you're prone to motion sickness---it is a very bumpy ride. I think small children would be afraid--more for kids around 8 and up.

This is a great ride, I would agree that it is more for ages 8 and up, not because it is scary but because of all the noise and because it is in the dark. Most small children might be a little frightened. The ride though is great, and a cool place to be on a hot day.

This is the best ride at AK. I always scream with scary delight everytime I go on it. And I have not experienced too many long waits. It's definitely worth waiting for, though!

I love this ride. Definitely the best at Animal Kingdom, and what makes it better is that the lines for it have seemingly decreased. No more hour waits, the ride now is close to a walk-on at most times. Inside, the pre-show is pretty good, and also interesting. The atmosphere is perfect, and so is the ride. A bit bumpy, however, so riders with bad backs beware. Also, very young children may be a bit startled at some points during the ride (because they take place in pitch darkness), but mostly, not too scary. Perfect in many ways, and definitely the best inside the Animal Kingdom walls.

This ride is the best ride at the Animal Kingdom and one of the best in the world! It is so advanced in technology and has a themeing (dinosaurs that pop out at you) that when you combine them the way Disney did, it makes as a ride that you must ride twice to believe.

for little kids about 3-8 whould be very very scared. kids9-13 whould be so glad they whent on it I mean it is like so real! anyway it is very good if you do not get scared esaly. This is what it is if your a little kid your going to be scared if your a big kid your going to be thinking this is so cool and if your a adult I guess it is ok.
