Summary Why?

Reviewer's Comments

I miss the old one. I think that was one of the best rides in Epcot (though not better than Horizons, which will always be my favorite Epcot ride, at least until I try the new Mission:Space ride) but this is simply uninspired, and pretty boring. Still, as the third remake (I think), its better than the last incarnation. Only go on it if you have spare time, otherwise go on some of the other great rides. My advice to Disney: bring back the old ride... it was a classic. This is not even close.

Summary What a sad ride

Reviewer's Comments

This used to be an enchanting attraction, the original Journey Into Imagination when EPCOT first openned. What made the Disney Company decide to DESTROY the original ride and replace it with this debaucle? Dull and uninspired are two terms that are too kind for this ride. It is truly awful. It has been redone twice since the original and it just keeps getting worse. They had a winner back in 1982 and they have ruined it. Don't waste your time with it. There's never a wait to get on-guess no one wants to go on it anymore.

Summary FIGMENT IS AWESOME

Reviewer's Comments

FIGMENT IS INCREDIBLE. MY LITTLE ONE'S LOVE HIM AND THEY SING THE SONG ALL THE TIME (AND THEY HAVENT HEARD IT SINCE 11/02). THERE'S ALOT GOING ON ABOVE, BELOW AND AROUND YOU SO PAY ATTENTION. YOUNGER KIDS WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE AREAS OF THE ACTIVITY BY SIGHTS, SOUNDS AND SMELLS. PLUS THE CAR MOVES SO YOU'RE ALWAYS FACING THE IMPORTANT STUFF.

"EVERYBODY KNOWS, A SKUNK IS NOT A ROSE!"

Summary Painful!

Reviewer's Comments

This was worse than awful! Wish that it all had been a figment of my imagination! Dull, boring and entirely pointless! We all hated it and I definately wouldn't bother with a repeat visit... Ever!

I love this ride. Figment is so cute. Although I did like the old ride better this one isn't that bad. Definitely recommended.

Summary Fantastic and Fun

Reviewer's Comments

Journey into Imagination with Figment is a fantastic ride! Even though it is made for kids it is fun for any age! The tiny purple dragon Figment originally made it's debut in the original Journey into Imagination opening in 1983. There we met the fun loving Dreamfinder and Figment, as they took us on a fantastic fun-filled ride through all the things we can do and see with our imaginations. The ride became a hit, and Figment became the unofficial mascot of Epcot. Then on October 10, 1998, after 15 years, Journey into Imagination closed its doors. Then almost a year later, Journey into Your Imagination opened. Following the Imagination Institute theme in Honey I shrunk the Audience, the premise of the ride was to engage your imagination through a series of expiriments and then run you through the scanner to see what ideas you have. The public absolutely HATED the new redo. Figment only made 2 small cameos and Dreamfinder was removed completely. Using cheesy carnival effects, it had nothing to do with our imaginations. Many people complained to cast members, kodak, and guest relations. It was stated that JII closed because of a contract between Kodak and Disney. Due to the number of animatronics, lights, projectors, etc. it was very expensive to keep each year. But then relief came as JIYI closed its doors in October 2001. Never has a Disney ride been complained about so much! June 1, 2002 was a landmark day. Disney and Kodak opened Journey into Imagination with Figment, the brand new ride. The battle between Disney and the public is over. Anyway, about the ride.
!!!!Spoilers Ahead!!!! Do not proceed if you want the ride to remain a surprise!
The idea is that the Imagination Institute is having an open house and you are invited to drive thru different labs that will capture your imagination using the 5 senses. Of course, Figment interrupts and exclaims that Imagination works best when it's set free! We start with the sound lab where an animatronic Figment calls Dr. Channing to tell him that "it's not about listening with your ears, it's about listening with your imagination". Then Figment tells the Doctor that his train of thought is over with him as we hear a train sounding really loud ahead of us! Figment breaks into song as we move into the sight lab. Dr. Channing wants to test our vision on the eye chart when figment gets into the action again, saying that you can see more when you use your imagination. He sings again as we journey away from the lab. On our way to smells, we see a butterfly magically disappears out of a cage. In the smell lab, figment comes again as he turns the giant scent canister into a slot machine. Then figment has a surprise waiting for you! (a foul smell) Then the doctor gives up at this point, and ends his open house right here. Then fig invites us to his open house, where its much more fun. We see his garage, kitchen, bathroom, family room and more. Then we go back to the institute where the doctor gives up and joins figments side. He understands that imagination works best when it's set free. We then see figment who says imagination is a blast, as air is jettisoned onto us (this may frighten young children) as then we see figment singing the one little spark theme with dr. channing as we see Figment using his imagination in all different ways!
I have visited this attraction only once, but many more times in online video. This is one of my favorite rides at Epcot. Overall A FANTASTIC ride. Everyone will love and enjoy figment once again. Imagination, Imagination! A dream can be a dream come true, with just that spark in me and you. For a great figment resource and more information visit figmentsimagination.com
