We liked this..
Reviewer's Comments
This was my husband's turn to choose the restaurant, and he chose Bongo's Cuban Cafe, which is owned by Gloria Estefan and her husband. Very nice atmosphere...VERY Florida, which I love..
We had no PS reservation, but went in on a whim, they were very organized, as is all Disney, got us right in.. we sat 'in the pineapple', which is a very unusual room, round, with large booths all around the perimeter with stained glass, lighted tables..very unique!, and a large circular bar in the center. My husband loved this because he could jump up from our table occasionally and have a cigarette at the bar..other's were enjoying cigars, but the room is very well ventilated..
The food was very nice..I'm not that familiar with cuban fare, but my husband is..so he guided me. I had a sandwich which was a combination of ham, pork, swiss cheese and pickles, served warm..very nice. The house chardonnay was nice also. Our appetizer was a deep fried, chopped ham dish (jambone?) with a 'secret' sauce, which was very nice.
We thought the appetizer was a little chintzy though, just 3 small pieces and the sauce. We were dipping the crackers in the sauce because it was so yummy!!! Our waiter was not personable at all, nor was the hostess, not a smile out of either of them..unusual for Disney..although the waiter did get the order right without writing it down and was effecient. Also, I wanted to try the rum cake for dessert, but it was not available, so I was a little disappointed with that. We ended up splitting the 'sponge cake with 3 milks'...very nice, unusual.dish, the spongecake absorbs the milks..my 3 year old gobbled it up.. Looks like they might have a nice nightlife there as well, there were instruments set up, but we were there for a quick lunch before getting to the airport to catch our flight home. The restaurant interior is lovely...check out he bongo drums for barstools! Worth the trip.

Terrible
Reviewer's Comments
My wife and I were seated in an area outside where there was garbage all over the floor and dirty plates stacked up on a tray for over a hour. I told our server that I wanted a seat in a cleaner area and we were moved.
I ordered the shreaded flank steak. It was so dry that even the steak sauce didn't make it edible. The fried plantains had less flavor than some plan rice cakes I've eaten. The only thing good about the dinner was the water.

Not to pleased...
Reviewer's Comments
I wasn't too pleased with the fact that my friend and I were immediately taken to the back of the restaurant to be seated (in a corner) when there were plenty of available seating in the front and center of the restaurant. We did ask to be moved, however. Our food came out within 5 minutes of our ordering, which made us think that perhaps it was old (or had been sitting out for awhile). After receiving our food, we didn't see the waiter again until it was time for the check. We sat and talked for awhile after we received the check which didn't seem to be welcomed. We kept getting looks from the staff that indicated that we needed to hurry up, pay and leave. The only good thing I can say overall is that the ambience was very cozy (but we didn't necessarily feel welcomed...maybe because we were minorities...hmmm....).

The wait staff was great. We enjoyed the food very much. The sweet and sour chicken was our favorite entree.

Excellent!!
Reviewer's Comments
Went there on both my previous visits to Florida and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Food was excellent, my only problem was there's too much choice. Very unusual dishes all of which sound mouth watering. Atmos was very lively inside, which was good. Sat outside the second time and that was more relaxing, so it depends on what experience you want. Would highly recommend and will be going back on my next visit.

Summary
BEST RESTAURANT AT DISNEY
Reviewer's Comments
My wife and I have been to Disney 3 times in the last 2 years, and about to go for the 4th time this week. We usually go to BONGO's twice during our visits. I only order the seafood stew, and pappa renallas and mojoitos, because it is an amazing meal. I have bites of my wifes dishes and other friends or families meals, and all are great. if you miss BONGO's your trip to Disney will be lacking something great. They don't do reservations and it is not part of the DDE. The average meal for 2 probably cost 45-55 dollars depending on alcoholic beveages, could be more or less. Service has always been helpful, and i like that they stay out of the way and let you enjoy the meal.

interesting food
Reviewer's Comments
i thought it was over-rated. The food was above average, but a cast member had told us so many things about it that I thought for sure it would be golden.
