Old favourite
Reviewer's Comments
This was the first Disney resort I stayed in, and at the time I loved it. The theming was great, the rooms were lovely.
Sadly, when I returned last year I wasn't as enthusiastic.
I'd already stayed at AKL and Polynesian on that trip, so maybe they clouded my judgement.
It seemed very dark and dreary in comparison. The rooms weren't as big, and the transport was a big let down.
The only way to the MK is by boat, and the buses weren't exactly reliable.
My room had a connecting door to the next room (obviously locked), and the people next door were soooo noisy, I didn't get much sleep.
It was a let down, and I doubt I'll stay there again.

For the money, it is the best value. Top notch dining, friendly people, valet parking, close to everything. Northwest theme is warm and cozy. Best hotel in my judgement.

We love this resort! The theming is fantastic--the pool area is out of this world! The lobby is just incredible. We found the rooms to be smaller than other deluxe resorts and a bit dark--but themed beautifully. Whispering Canyon Cafe is a lot of fun--food is good also. Definitly stay here if you have the chance!

A great experience.
Reviewer's Comments
My family went to Wilderness Lodge back in 1998. We loved everything about the resort. The food was great at all the different eating places and it was always a family oriented experience. The waiters and waitresses were perfectly friendly and gave great service. The arcade was rather large and kept everyone entertained. Room service was also great. In fact, the only complaint I have is that the rooms themselves were a bit on the small size when compared to other deluxe resorts, but they're very decorative and cozy. We had a great view of the pool when we stayed there as well. The pool itself was quite nice, although not nearly as grand as the pools in other deluxe and moderate resorts. The access to the lake was great with boat rentals and such. And the man made geyser was a cool little feature for the lodge. I loved the people and I loved the place. Transportation was almost always on time. The main room of the lodge is probably my favorite place to be at. You can sit on the couches and just read a book within the multi-storied area. There are open restaurants around you and great scenery to look at. People are also very friendly. You can't beat the combined price and quality of this resort, I highly recommend it!

Beautiful
Reviewer's Comments
The architecture on WL is absolutely breathtaking. My family has stayed here twice, most recently Dec. 97-Jan. 98 (okay, not very recent...) I'm sure it's even more lovely now. The suites are very spacious and we had a gorgeous view of the geisure and pool. All the buildings are connected, I think, unlike other resorts. The lobby is very woodsy and is enormous! The gift shop wasn't my favorite b/c it was all campfire Disney, but some may find this to be right up their alley. It was very cool to spend New Years in Disney, though it is a vert crowded time of year. I would highly recommend this resort.

transport nightmere
Reviewer's Comments
My husband and I stayed here in Nov 03 and it was very good other than the bus service from this resort. You can only get to the magic kingdom directly by boat and we had to wait for a second boat to arrive on several occasions. My tip here is to catch the boat that goes to the contempory resort and then catch the resort mono rail to the magic kingdom. What ever you do don't wait for the ticket and trans bus to pick up the mono rail because you will wait forever. As for the bus to downtown disney, this is nearly non exisitant, allow a good hour plus if you have a reservation or tickets to a show....
On a positive note this hotel is set in the most beautiful surroundings and the pools never seem to be very busy. The rooms are the smallest of the deluxe resorts but are fine.
There is also a water pageant on certain nights on bay lake in front of the hotel. I must admit that I wouldn't stay here again just because of the transport and will go back to our old fave Port Orleans Riverside.

Acceptable
Reviewer's Comments
We've stayed at Coronado the past two trips and were looking forward to our first Deluxe experience. I don't know what I truly expected, but Wildnerness didn't deliver. It might be my expectations, but the room was just average, not a whole lot bigger than what we had at Coronado. It was a walk to the Roaring Forks for the smaller cups refills, and also a hike to the bus stop.
We went to the All Star Movies to check it out while we were there, and I had the opposite reaction. I was very impressed, and felt that I had both expected too much for the Deluxe, and not expected anything from the Value. Given this experience however, I will stick to the Moderate and Value from now on. There is no appreciable difference that substantiates the difference in room rates.
